The Leela Goa Editorial Review, Rated (4.5 / 5) By Our Editors
The Leela Goa is one of the best beach resorts in India offering a private beach for guests staying at its property. The property itself looks stunning and like a lush green island.
Its easy to book this hotel directly through their website or from third party websites. If you do book from a third party website, make sure you confirm your booking with the hotel before your arrival to ensure your booking from third party has been confirmed to the hotel. Booking can either be prepaid with discounts or with credit card holds. We booked directly from the website with credit card hold. It was a quick and easy process.
Arrival & Check In
We arrived at the Goa airport around 1 PM and had their representative greet us at the exit and take us to our BMW for transfer to the resort. It took around 1 hour to reach the property and as we were travelling in the monsoon season, we witnessed a lot of greenery on our way to resort. Once there, we were greeted by their front desk staff, welcomed with flowers and a welcome drink and then assigned a butler who took us to our pool villa in an ecart where the check in formalities were completed.
They have rooms and suites facing lagoons in their property which looks very great especially in the monsoon season. And then there are club suites and villas with their own plunge pools overlooking their lush green gardens. From our pool villa we could hear the sea but could not see it. Overall, it does not matter where you stay in this property as ultimately you will be spending most of your time at the beach.
The Leela Goa provides direct access to mobor beach which is just a bit ahead of the cavelossim beach if you are coming from north goa. It basically is part of the cavelossim beach only. This beach is one of the top beaches of Goa to spend peaceful time with your loved ones. Here you cannot find the hustle and bustle of the the north Goa beaches but it has its own charm. Ideal for relaxing and swimming. There was one guard of the property guarding the access gate from hotel to beach as well as advising the people to not venture deep into sea as during monsoons there are very high tides and swimming as well as other water sports is prohibited.
A let down considering everything else. While I understand the cooking is influenced by the Goan style, a five star property charging more than 50,000 a day from us should have cooking staff catering to all kinds of cuisines. No matter what I demanded, I was disappointed in all days I was there. Disappointed not in service but in taste of food requested. We did not take buffet breakfast so cannot comment on its quality but we had a bite at one of their restuarants which again was slightly better but not great.
They provide e-cart/buggy drop and pick up to the beach access point which is great because not all of the times you would prefer walking. They also had a lovely breakfast set up done in our villa outdoor area in all days we were there which was great. We have had newspaper on time everyday and a fast Internet access. They also provided us with a DVD player and few movies DVD set upon request. They also have a SPA where you can have good and relaxing massages and facials. Then there is an on site ayurvedic expert/doctor who can assist you in selecting the right ayurvedic massage or treament for you.
The moment we were assigned a butler, he became our point of contact for everything. He was a Bengali gentlemen with great sense of care for his guests. He took us promptly to beach by the buggy anytime we asked and arranged for the reverse pick up as well on a call. He set up the breakfast outdoor like he is doing it for his own family member. From start to end, he gave us a great service and reminded us a British era butlers. Other than him, we came across few other staff as well who were pleasant and happy to help you. Overall a thumbs up in staff quality in this property.
Go this to The Leela Goa for a peaceful and luxurious stay where you can stroll on the beach forever which is one of the best beaches of Goa and then spend time by the pool if you wish to or take a good massage. Our editors give it (4.5 / 5)
