Written by Arundhati Roy, it is an Indian classical novel, genre as similar as "To kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee but the style of her writing is completely unique. The story of twins and their mother whose lives are destroyed by the "Love Laws" that lay down "who should be loved, and how and how much." How the small things affect people's behaviour and their lives is described by abrupt change of chapters with abrupt timeline with words used in harmony, metaphors used so beautifully that it produces a symphony that even crisis sounds like a melodious poem. I'd say it's a must read and yeah it won the "Booker prize" too  so please give it a try.
